FIRST EVER
ALONZO & TRACY MOURNING SENIOR HIGH BISCAYNE BAY CAMPUS BLOOD DRIVE

On 5/13/2010 ATM hosted its first blood drive, raising $320 towards scholarships for our students.

The first donor was a smiling parent and donations continued through the day by other parents, students, faculty and staff.

Our first roster of life savers:

Christopher Adkins  Louis Diaz  Patricia Perez
Johana Agredo  Mark Gottfried  Martin Roch
Art Artounian  Mary Guss  Justin Rothschild
Denise Bastos  Michelle Long  Stephanie Tudor
Vicki Brennan  Nadine Natwick  John Vanordstrand
Curt Bridges  Aracely Perez  Karla Villalta
 Sergio Carrillo

Besides saving lives, donors get a mini-physical, and after 5-7 days can find out their blood type and total cholesterol. And of course there were juices, food, T-shirts and passes to various area attractions as bonuses to sweeten the experience.

The phlebotomist was exceptionally gentle and even for first timers, like Ms Natwick, donating was a breeze.

If you "missed the bus" you can still donate at the Sunny Isles Beach Community School Blood Drive 5/20/2010 (11:30 AM-4:00 PM) with the scholarship dollars coming to ATM's students.
For additional details or directions please contact Sunny Isles Beach Community School directly -SIBCS-PTSA email.   All the funds generated by donations at blood drives in our feeder pattern will eventually be distributed as scholarships to ATM students.

In the race for the fastest pint, Dr. Gottfried, representing science, beat out both representatives from atheletics (Coach Atkins and Ms Tudor).  This may be the start of a serious rivalry!

The next blood drive at ATM will be at the start of the new school year at the end of August. Keep your iron up!
