Youth Leadership Miami (YLM) is a FREE program of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce targeted to freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors who are in good standing scholastically and attend either public or private high schools located in Miami-Dade County. This exciting and fun program is patterned after the highly successful and widely recognized Leadership Miami program. YLM brings together young people from different backgrounds and experiences for leadership and personal development.

 

YLM is a two-day conference taking place on Friday and Saturday, January 21*-22, 2011, at the University of Miami. Day One will kick off the conference with the exciting UM Ropes Challenge. This unique series of activities is focused on team members working together to solve structured problems in a team setting. Both days consists of a series of leadership and personal development activities including wide variety of activities with community leaders, government officials, and prominent business executives, all sharing their views on our community and their leadership skills.

 

Participating seniors also have an opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship from the South Florida Progress Foundation.

 

Applications are now available for the 2011 program. Deadline to apply is Monday, January 3, 2011. Take advantage of this opportunity to help a teen learn more about how to become all that he or she can be!

 

*Friday, January 21 is a Teacher Work Day at Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
