You have to do the first two assignments.
The second two assignments are not exactly extra credit, but will add points to your grade on the first two assignments if they are submitted on time. Check the main agenda and homework page for due dates. You will get one block day in the library to work on the assignments. Based on past experience, that is enough time for #1 & #2. If you have time to work on 1a and or 2a while in the library - great, if not, you are on you own. If you don't finish  #1 or #2 in the library, finishing them becomes homework.
